Where a UCC-1 is filed
Generally in the state where the debtor is located under UCC 9-307. A registered organization, such as a corporation or LLC, is located in the state where it was formed. An individual is located at their principal residence. We file with that state’s central filing office.
What we collect
- Your name and email.
- The debtor’s exact legal name, as shown on its public organic record (UCC 9-503), and address.
- The secured party’s name and address.
- The collateral description, exactly as you want it filed.
- Your role: secured party of record, debtor, or another person authorized to file.
- A checkbox confirming you’re authorized to file. UCC 9-509: the debtor authorized this filing in an authenticated record, or you are the secured party of record (or are authorized by it).
What you receive
The filing office’s acknowledgment of the filing, by email. Timing is set by the filing office.

What is a UCC-1 financing statement?
A UCC-1 is the public notice a secured party files with a state filing office to give notice of a security interest in a debtor’s personal property. It names the debtor, the secured party and the collateral.

Which state do I file a UCC-1 in?

How should the debtor’s name be entered?
For a registered organization, use the exact name on its public organic record, such as its filed articles (UCC 9-503). Enter the name exactly; we file it as you give it to us.
What do I receive?
The filing office’s acknowledgment of the filing, sent to you by email once the office issues it.
How long does a UCC-1 stay effective?
Under UCC 9-515, a financing statement is generally effective for five years from its file date and lapses unless a continuation is filed in the six months before it lapses.
What don’t you file?
We don’t file fixture filings, timber or as-extracted collateral records, transmitting utility, manufactured-home or public-finance records, county-only records, or records with more names or pages than the state’s base fee covers. For those, email support@fastuccfiling.com.
