Questions
What is a UCC-3?
A UCC-3 changes a financing statement already on file. The three types we file are an amendment, a continuation and a termination.
How much does a UCC-3 filing cost here?
$39 for our service plus the state filing fee for that type of UCC-3. Each state page shows the fee and total for each type we offer there.
When can a continuation be filed?
Only in the six months before the financing statement lapses, which is five years after its file date (UCC 9-515). Our order form checks the date and won’t take a continuation outside that window.
Can a debtor file a termination?
Only in a narrow case. Under UCC 9-513(d), a debtor may file a termination only after the secured party of record fails to respond to the debtor’s demand to terminate.
What do you need from me?
The initial financing statement file number and file date, the debtor and secured party names, and, for an amendment, the exact change to make.
What do I receive?
The filing office’s acknowledgment of the UCC-3, sent to you by email once the office issues it.
